Day 111: Costume

Working on my Halloween costume.

Day 110: Road to School

I take a road less traveled to school, which means I deal with a lot less traffic and it's more scenic.  I frequently see deer crossing the road, but so far haven't been lucky enough to get a picture of them.

Day 108: Cards

Ashley and Ed played cards while I did homework.

Day 107: Sunset

I didn't do a whole lot today that was worth taking a picture of (laundry, homework, computer stuff), so I took a picture of my dinner (barbecued ribs) and that was going to be my picture of the day.  While doing my homework, I happened to look out the window and see the sky.  The colors were amazing and I knew that that would be my picture of the day.

Day 106: Yard Work

On Friday night it was super windy.  I heard a loud crack and then I watched as a giant tree branch fell and took out part of the fence.  [It was a big enough branch that at first I thought a tree had fallen down.]  On Saturday morning Ash and I slept in and got to work on the tree around 10 AM.  We used the lopper to cut off the small branches and the chainsaw to cut the larger pieces.

Day 105: Applebee's

Ashley, Sarah and I had dinner (and several drinks) at Applebee's.  We spent more on drinks than we did on dinner, and we were there for about four hours.  We had a MUCHO good time and the waiter was cute too.  [I forgot my camera, so I had to use Ashley's camera phone.]

Day 100: Light!

Today, Ed and I installed the light fixture by the front door.  What should've been a 15-minute job turned into an hour of annoyance.  Twice we accidentally dropped the decorate screw caps and they fell between the deck boards.  The porch is bricked in and the boards were nailed down with a nail gun, so there was no easy way to get to the screw caps—nor could we replace them.  Ed used a wire hanger to extract them.  And then the headless screws were too long and Ed had to trim them using lopping shears.  We finally got it done, and I have to say, it looks much better than the old one...

Day 99: Rodney's Birthday

Carrie, Mom, Rodney and Ed.

Today was Rodney's 6th birthday.  To celebrate his birthday, we went to the pet store and picked out a new toy and some treats.  Then we went for a hike at City Forest.

Day 98: Facebook

Tonight Mom came over and I taught her how to upload pictures onto Facebook.  Rodney wanted to help.

Day 97: Lounging

The photo is of Toby and I watching Pride & Prejudice (the one with Kiera Knightly).  Generally, I'm not a huge romance movie fan.  I prefer movies with guns and explosions and adventure.  However, there is something about both the book and the movie of Pride & Prejudice that I absolutely love.  [Can you see the scary face in my hair?]

Day 95: SSDD

Toby and my homework.  It was back to the grind today.  Work, then school, and then homework.  I am so exhausted, I think I need a vacation.  ":)

Holly, Ashley, and me.
We spent most of our time on the beach. The weather was fantastic, though I did get a bit of a sunburn.

Day 90: Surfside Beach

Ashley and I flew to Texas for a weekend at the beach. Mom picked us up at the airport, because she was already down there. We ate lunch at Granny's and then drove down to Surfside.

Day 87: Arts, Beats & Eats

I went to Arts, Beats, and Eats 2010 with Nina, Dan, Fred, Amy, and Ashley.  We looked at some art and ate a lot of yummy food.  Everybody else was taking group photos of our faces and I decided to do something different.  So, I took a group photo of our feet.

Day 86: Beowulf

For my literature class this semester, I have to read Beowulf—thankfully it's a modern translation and much easier to understand.  Also, I was able to find an audio version of it, so I listened to it today while I cleaned the pool and when I was cutting up tomatoes for the dehydrator, and cutting up bell peppers and green beans for the freezer (from Mom's garden).

Day 85: Tomatos

Ashley and I went to the Farmer's Market today and bought a bushel of tomatoes (along with cheesy giraffe homemade dog treats for the boys, and slushie cider and kettle corn for us).  Then we went out to Mom's house to can them.

Day 84: Game Night

Me, Jamey, Colleen, Ashley, Teressa, and Vic.
Ashley and I hosted game night at our house—complete with crabmeat cheese and wine.  We played Guesstures, Pictionary, Battle of the Sexes (we had uneven teams, so I had to be one of the guys), and Apples to Apples.

Day 82: 30,000 Words

My word count for "The Museum Job" is finally above 30,000.  I thought I'd never get there.  Every time I added 50 words, I'd delete 60.  I floundered in the 29,000s for what seemed like forever.  My current word count is 30,562.  Woo hoo!
