Day 142: Happy Howl-oween!

All my Halloween festivities happened earlier in the week, but I had to have a Halloween related picture today—it just wouldn't be right if I didn't.  So, I made the mutts pose for this.  Don't they look thrilled?

Day 139: Halloween Party

I'm not a doctor, I just play one on TV.

We had our Halloween party at work.  Our team did a haunted hospital.  I borrowed scrubs and a stethoscope from Ashley.

Day 136: Still Autumn

Looking out my bedroom window onto the lovely autumn weather.  [The high was 74 degrees!]  Too bad a cold front is supposed to be coming through on day 139.

Day 135: Quilt Blocks

After a long summer break from our quilt group, we met today.  I couldn't remember what I had been working on the last time we met, so I helped Mom and Ashley work on their baby quilts.

Day 134: Soccer Game

I went to Kayla's last soccer game and got to see her score.  Her team won, 6-3.  [After the game, I went to a self-defense class at Fred's martial arts studio and got to kick some butt.)

Day 133: Julie/Julia

I started reading Julie & Julia.

Day 132: Fondue

Ashley and I took Mom to The Melting Pot for her birthday.  For the cheese fondue we had Fondue à la France (containing brie and bacon) with fruit and bread.  Then we had Salade Niçoise containing things that I can't pronounce.  The entree included shrimp, lobster, steak, and chicken.  For desert we had the Ying-Yang chocolate fondue: white chocolate and dark chocolate.  Oh yeah, and to drink we had blackberry sage lemonade.  Yum!

Day 130: Bookends

I found these tiny boots in my memorabilia stuff at Mom's house.  They make perfect bookends, don't you think?

Day 129: Wig

I bought a wig for my Halloween costume and I was trying it out...  it's a lot more hair than I thought it would be.  This is what the picture on the package looks like.  I'm not sure I can deal with that much hair...  Anyway, I didn't know where to store it and this is the closest thing I had to a human head.

Day 128: Dominoes

Played dominoes with Dad and totally kicked his butt.  Then I played with Ashley and Mom.  I think Mom won that game, but it was close.

Day 127: Bonfire

After we went to the Red Barn of Terror, another haunted event, and the Masonic Temple Haunted House, we went back to Kevin and Sarah's house to have a bonfire.

Day 126: 5-Page Paper

Rodney helping me write my history paper.

Day 125: Home-cooked Meal

Dad eats a lot of frozen dinners while working on the road.  So, when he's home, we try to make food that he doesn't get on the road.  Tonight I made red potatoes in a garlic butter sauce and barbecued spare-ribs on the grill (with help from Dad).  Ashley made fresh broccoli and potato bread to go with it.  Dinner was fabulous!

Day 124: Skip-Bo

Playing Skip-Bo at Mom and Dad's house.

Day 123: Dr Pepper

Dr Pepper is what gets me through both work and school.  With out the wonderful 23 flavors and the necessary caffeine, I would surely fall asleep.  Thank you, Dr Pepper for tasting awesome!

Day 122: Dad's Home!

Dad is home from Tennessee for a bit and we're all glad to see him!

Day 121: Spaghetti & Bruschetta

Super Easy Bruschetta
1 box frozen garlic Texas toast
Italian seasoning
garlic salt
fresh tomatoes, diced
shredded Parmesan cheese

Bake Texas toast for 5 minutes at 425 degrees.  Remove toast from oven, flip over.  Sprinkle with Italian seasoning and garlic salt.  Top with tomatoes and cheese.  Bake for another 5 minutes.

Day 120: Pumpkin Farm

I would've rather had a pumpkin picture for today since we were at a pumpkin farm, but Lily wasn't having it.  So, I went with the 24 car on the "train" ride.  We thought Lily would be scared, which is why she rode in the same car with Gage (probably safer that way too), but she instead she loved it and didn't want it to end.

Day 119: Autumn Leaves

The weather was so beautiful today (in the high 70s in October in Michigan!) that I couldn't stay inside.  So, the mutts and I went to city forest for a nice long walk.  I looked straight up to get this photo.

Day 118: Photo Shoot

Let me preface this with the statement that sometimes I'm a dork.  Anyway, I'm super excited that this is my last year of school (I am so ready to be done).  When I thought about being a senior and graduation and all that, I thought it would be funny if I had "senior" pictures taken and sent them to my friends and family with my graduation announcement next summer.  So I "hired" Dennis to take some autumn-ish pictures.  My picture of the day is Dennis taking my picture.  ":)

Day 117: The Ring

Just when I thought I was going to complete an entire week of school (going to all classes for the full class period), I decided to bail on my history class (I did go to 2/3 of the class).  I was getting ready to leave campus when I looked over and saw that weird dome thing across the way and I decided it would be my picture of the day.  So, I parked, crossed this weird and muddy creek (which reminds me, I have to hose off my shoes) and came upon the even weirder dome thing which after some research I discovered is called Annual Ring and has to do with the summer solstice.  I still think it's weird, but I was able to get an interesting picture.

Day 116: The Red Tree

This tree is on the road less traveled (day 110).  I love the bright red against the blue sky.

Monday, October 4, 2010

Day 115: Marigolds

I spent less than $10 on these Marigold plants look how awesome they are.  I planted them in May and they're still going strong in October.  I am impressed with the hardiness of Marigolds and will definitely be purchasing them again.  Read more to see what they looked like in May.

Day 114: Mini Reunion

I had a mini reunion with some girls I went to high school with.  We had dinner at Tavern on the Square in Lansing.  It was a great time remembering the crazy stuff we did in high school.  I can't wait for the next get together.
