Normally I buy the dogs toys from the dollar store or if they're on sale at Petsmart and I spend less than $2 on them. However, last summer (maybe longer) Ed gave the dogs
AKC stuffed animals (a squirrel and a chipmunk) and not only do Toby and Rodney absolutely love them, but they've outlasted every other toy they own (including the rubber chicken). I ordered new ones from Amazon (chipmunk and fox) and though they cost a bit more than I've spent in the past, I think it's worth it. The boys were certainly pleased when they arrived in the mail today.
